Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in protest at a recent decision made at the BBC regarding a certain character in the sci-fi program ‘Torchwood’. I have regarded myself as an avid fan since the show’s first appearance in 2006. I grew to love the characters and feel like I have an emotional attachment to them, especially one character in particular; ‘Ianto Jones’.
In episode four of series three that was broadcast last week I’m sure you can thus imagine my grief when said character was killed off. Myself and thousands more fans just like me thought that although the scene was beautifully written, it was not essential to the plot and has ruined, perhaps forever, what was once the most brilliant show on television.
There are so many reasons why such a popular character should have been saved, and I do not think I have the time or space to list them all. I must mention, though, that his ongoing love affair with the main character Jack Harkness was only just getting started, in a way. The two had so much potential, and there was so much to explore. The second reason that I cannot fail to inform you of is something you are obviously aware of; with one member of the team killed, one pregnant, and the other gone from the planet, this leaves next to nothing for a future series without starting again with a brand new cast (a solution I hope you shall never consider). As a result, no matter what the producers or writers may suggest, the show is over. This is a fact that we cannot and do not want to consider.
To conclude; you may receive many letters like this as well as certain ‘gifts’ in what is being known by the Torchwood and Ianto
voilà aller faut le faire quoi sa pourrait marcher !
